Our School community will know we have been supporting a Kenyan Charity this Christmas, the Kings Rugby Development Academy.
We would like to pass on a huge thank you to the massive response we had. Particular thanks to the students who helped parcel up all the donations, which are now on their way to Kenya.
This explains why and how we have been supporting the charity. You can still give your support by sponsoring a child, or other donations; please see the information below
James McGreevy was a former Rutlish student – he would now be in yr13. He and his family relocated to Kenya three and a half years ago. James had a vision to try to improve life chances for the vulnerable children living in the Kibera slum and consequently set up the Kings Rugby Development Academy.
The KRDA Sunday Rugby Programme currently has 200 boys and 50 girls. It gives the children a bus ride from Kibera, green fields, open space, positive role models, nutritious food, clean water to drink, shower facilities, medical support, rugby kit and much more! It imparts life skills and aids the development of the whole person: physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. It provides discipline, an understanding of a positive community and encourages the children to believe that they are not destined for poverty.

How Rutlish is helping
KRDA Operation Christmas Bag/Box 2017
We asked KS3 & RR6 tutor groups to organise Christmas bags/boxes for the children who attend the academy. We sent out 250 – one for each child. This meant each KS3 & RR6 tutor group donating 5 boxes/bags each and then yr10/11 and staff making up the difference (80 bags/boxes). It can be done!!
KRDA Sponsor a Child to play Rugby
We are asking each yr8 & RR6 tutor group to raise enough money to sponsor 1 child to attend the Sunday Rugby Programme. This small gift gives the child the bus ride, hot lunch, coaching, medical support, equipment, showers to wash and the life skills outlined above.
Half Year £60
