Daily hardship is the order of the day for the children living in the Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya. With the lack of proper nutrition and clean water, children are at high risk of diseases such as cholera, malaria and typhoid. In addition, the children are faced with countless other difficulties.
Last October Rutlish started links with the Kings Rugby Development Academy (KRDA) in Kenya. The KRDA was of particular interest to us because it was founded by one of our very own- James McGreevy, a former student of Rutlish.
Last Christmas Rutlish donated over 300 Christmas boxes containing toys, clothes and other daily essentials. Several tutor groups in year 8 and RR6 also contributed monetary donations to sponsor the children to attend the KRDA Sunday Rugby programme.
Please watch the videos to see for yourself how your generosity has touched the lives of several children from the Kibera slum.
The Year 8 Young Ambassadors would like to take this opportunity to thank all students, staff and families for their thoughts and acts of kindness.
