WORLD BOOK DAY AT RUTLISH SCHOOL
Rutlish students celebrated their literacy on World Book Day through a range of activities. 8C produced a World Book Day assembly, sharing ideas about extending their own reading (eg to read the whole of a book series) and challenging the rest of Year 8 to do the same.
In English, students started lessons with 10 minutes of quiet reading (please ensure your son has a reading book in his bag at all times!). There is an ongoing tag hunt to find out teachers’ favourite books, and a writing competition, closing Monday – students should write a gripping, imaginative diary entry of up to 200 words about a bizarre event.
Every student were also be given a £1 book token, to spend either on the special £1 range of books produced for World Book Day, or to put towards a full price book costing £2.99 or more. This can be used in bookshops but we also have the Scholastic Book Fair in the LRC all next week,
for your son to come and choose a new book. The LRC is also hosted a book swap.
