HOUSE COMPETITION

AUTUMN 2021

It’s been a very busy term for house competitions as we have run nine events since September! These included: house bake off for staff and students which raised an impressive amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support; house history quiz; design an invention competition; house rugby; and even a teacher scavenger hunt for European Languages Day.

It has been brilliant to see so many students participating in extracurricular events and current overall scores are very close so it’s all to play for in the spring!

We have also seen some new initiatives this year, including electing new Deputy House Captains from Year 10 and House Captains in Year 12, as well as some fantastic new banners designed by students from all year groups. They will be displayed around school early next term.

Here are a few words from your house coordinators reflecting on the successes of their houses this term!

ROMANS - Ms Cuffe-Davies

Romans, as we see the end of 2021, I want to say how fantastic all members of the Romans have been. Active in taking part and being their best both as an individual and team member.

It’s been overwhelming and inspiring to see all Romans being supportive in entering the house competitions and being champions in being optimistic and enjoying the team spirit even if we are not back at the top.

Let's make 2022 a successful one.

SPARTANS - Mr Neesham

It has been a decent start for Spartans this half term - although we are not top of the table we have been well-represented in competitions across the school so far.

There were some great entries to the banner competition and the winner looks excellent now that it has been printed professionally; well done to Matthew in 8S for the design.

House Vice Captain Maté has been making his visits to the Spartan groups in Years 7, 8 and 9. It is great to see students engaging with their house activities - keep your entries coming everyone!

Maté and I look forward to starting 2022 with a new House Captain to help spur us on to victory.

Until then, enjoy the holiday and be ready to return in the new year hungry for the WIN in the Articulate competition.
