Rutlish School is proud to consistently receive awards and commendations. The school was judged as an Outstanding by Ofsted in 2017.
In 2019, our results confirmed that we are among the highest performing non-selective secondary school in the country receiving four awards for being in the top 10% nationally for attainment and for being in DfE Band 1 for student progress at key stage 4. The school was also recognised for being in the top 10% nationally for student attainment in academic subjects and achieving significantly higher than national average student progress in applied general subjects at key stage 5.
SSAT has recognised the excellent performance.
“a culture which is highly aspirational. Staff, pupils and governors are ambitious and committed to ensuring that the school provides an excellent education.”
“Teachers’ subject knowledge is outstanding and they set high expectations for pupils. As a result, skilfully planned activities and learning resources ensure that all pupils make rapid progress.”
“Pupils have excellent attitudes to learning and are very proud of their school. Their manners are impeccable; behaviour, both within classes and around school, is exemplary.”
“Leaders have ensured that personal development has as much importance as academic success.”

Thank you
I just wanted to thank you for all your help with Maths during my GCSEs. The skills you have taught me (especially in statistics) proved to be vital in my undergraduate degree, with my favourite modules being those that incorporated statistics. I am extremely proud to be a Rutlish student. Ben is about to start his Masters at Cambridge University.
transition to Year 7 2020
I'd like to say a massive thank you for all that you are doing to keep my son and his friends happy and safe. I know there may be challenges ahead, given the current circumstances but my son feels settled, motivated and ready to learn.
Thank you
Once again Miss I would like to say a massive thanks for all the support you provided me and I honestly couldn't have done it without your help.
leadership
Thank you Ms Howarth for your strong leadership. It is hugely appreciated.
Thank you to all staff
Our son joined Year 7 in September . In spite of all the challenges faced this term, he has settled in so well, made great academic progress and feels so supported by all staff. The systems you have put in place for remote learning are incredible and they have enabled him to keep up to date with work and continue to feel part of the Rutlish community.
Remote Learning
Just to re iterate a huge THANK YOU to yourselves and to all the teachers too for the amazing way you have all had to adapt to teaching the boys. I am super impressed with how well the online schooling is working this lockdown and that’s all down to all the teachers amazing hard work and commitment. [our son's] learning has been great and he’s really getting on with all his work as he would do at school -this would not have been possible without all your support and adaptations to continue to teach as normal as possible....so thank you gratefully, you guys are doing a fantastic job!!
Transition
We have been blown away by the school's communication, dedication and clear love of the boys. From the day we received the letter to say he was accepted we have been impressed with the communication, the attention to detail, giving the boys clear explanations of what is to come.......... and I know from experience not what all schools do. The teachers we have been in contact with have all been amazing and so supportive.
