Year 8 students have been exploring a range of exciting artistic techniques and themes this term through three creative projects: Warrior Shield Designs, Expressionist Portraits, and Gargoyle Pots.
Inspired by historical warrior cultures, students designed and created their own unique shields, using symbols, patterns and colours to represent identity, strength and personal values. In their Expressionist Portraits, students studied the work of influential artists and experimented with bold colours, exaggerated features and expressive mark-making to convey emotion and personality. Finally, students channelled their creativity into Gargoyle Pots, sculpting imaginative clay designs inspired by traditional gargoyles while developing their understanding of three-dimensional form and ceramic techniques.
These projects have enabled students to build their drawing, design and sculpting skills while encouraging creativity, self-expression and confidence in their artistic ideas. The resulting artwork showcases the imagination, effort and growing technical ability of our talented Year 8 artists.
